Family-owned since 1974, Precious has practically become a historical landmark in the heart of Almaden area in south San Jose .  Located over a 1 acre lot, the school has tremendous amount of instructional and outdoor play area.  Mrs. Wendy Flynn is currently the director of Precious and has been with Precious as both a teacher and administrator under the guidance of founder and owner, Mrs. Nilu Ulla.  Precious preschool offers preschool and pre-Kindergarten for ages 2.5 years to 5 years old.  For your convenience, we have 2 half-day and 3 half-day programs for morning and afternoon sessions.  From the beginning, we have strived and are proud to maintain one of the smallest class sizes (10:1 ratio) in the valley. We know this makes a difference in the development of your child when given such close attention and direction.

The number one reason why children and parents love Precious is because of our staff.  The teachers are second to none in this valley.  We have been blessed to have the warmest, brightest, and most patient teachers. Many have been with us since the school’s inception.  We encourage you to come visit us with your child and meet our teachers and school.

Precious currently accommodates up to 120 students and remains one of the most prestigious preschools to attend in the Almaden area.

Under the same ownership and philosophy, Precious' sister school, Clement School, is also located in the Almaden valley area for your convenience.

Our History

Mrs. Nilu Ulla fulfilled her lifelong dream in 1974 when she established Precious Preschool in south San Jose .  Mrs. Ulla had the vision to create a stimulating environment where young children could flourish and grow creatively, emotionally, physically, and socially.  A place that would prepare children for all their important first steps into the world of formal education.  Precious Preschool was quick to garner a stellar reputation for excellence among parents and the community for its care and nurturing of young children.

Mrs. Ulla comes from a lineage of education.  Her grandfather established a school in India which later became a well-known college serving the poor and less fortunate.  In addition, Mrs. Ulla’s mother was personally trained by the famous Maria Montessori in India and later received a full scholarship in the 1920s to attend Oxford University .  Mrs. Ulla was a teacher in India before migrating to the United States .  She briefly worked in corporate America until she decided to establish her own school.  Now, she is proud to see her daughter, Shahana Shah, carry on the family tradition as well.  Hence, education has been carried through four generations in Mrs. Ulla’s family.

Precious Preschool was and continues to be renowned for Mrs. Ulla’s approach and unsurpassed experience in early childhood education.  Today, under the Directorship of Mrs. Wendy Flynn, and through the ongoing consulting efforts of Mrs. Ulla, the family tradition of excellence in childhood development continues.
